ETM Online M.S. Option

General Information

Note: The online M.S. option requires an additional application.

The M.S. in Technology degree, with a concentration in Environmental Technology Management, is available as an online degree. Three concentrations are available:

Students in this program will be part of a cohort group that begins each January and graduates 24 months later at the December ceremony.

Requirements

Students in the online cohort are expected to be working professionals in fields such as ES&H (Environmental, Health and Safety), environmental engineering, emergency management, national or local regulatory and permitting agencies, environmental law, environmental laboratories, education, etc.

A variety of undergraduate degree preparation is appropriate, but students should have at least one course in inorganic chemistry and one course in organic chemistry. Evidence of a high degree of motivation will be expected for online learning students.

Schedule and Curriculum

The cohort group will take two online courses each fall and spring semester for four semesters. In addition, each cohort will be required to come to Phoenix for three days each January for the Annual Cohort Meeting, where program requirements, expectations and other information about the cohort program are presented.

No courses will be taken during the first summer, but following the third semester, cohort students will enroll for six semester hours of research and applied project credit during the second summer session of the two-year degree. These courses will involve individualized work with a faculty member on an agreed-upon topic that will be suitable for publication. Coordination with faculty will be at a distance and not in person.

However, in December of the following fall semester (the final semester), cohort students will return to Phoenix for a "capstone" experience. During this time, the student will defend his/her applied project. The schedule will be arranged so that students will be able to attend graduation if they desire.
