This laboratory supports MET 302 Welding Survey, a required class for manufacturing students and a technical elective for other students. It also supports MET 402 and MET 437, required courses for the Material Joining option of the Bachelor of Applied Science degree. Also, students have access to the laboratory when doing projects such as the Mini Baja car development.

The laboratory, which became a Miller Training Center in fall 2005, is equipped with state-of-the-art welding equipment valued at over $200,000. All of the Miller equipment is entrusted by Miller Electric to the department. The equipment is always up-to-date as Miller ensures each piece of equipment is current.
