Metrology Laboratory

This laboratory supports the following courses required for students pursuing undergraduate degrees in manufacturing and mechanical engineering technology:

  • MET 309 Non-Destructive Inspection and Quality Assurance
  • MET 345 Advanced Manufacturing Processes
  • MET 401 Quality Assurance

The laboratory equipment is also available for students as needed for projects or other class activities.

The laboratory has a variety of measurement equipment, including:

  • various gauges and other equipment for hand measurement
  • four CNC coordinate measuring machines (two contact and two vision)
  • optical comparator with digital readout
  • eddy current machine
  • ultrasound machine
  • dye penetrate station
  • magnetic particle machine

This equipment includes a Nikon combination tool that has both contact and laser measurement capability. This tool is part of a larger Nikon equipment entrustment to the department.
