Metrology Laboratory
This laboratory supports the following courses required for students pursuing undergraduate degrees in manufacturing and mechanical engineering technology:
- MET 309 Non-Destructive Inspection and Quality Assurance
- MET 345 Advanced Manufacturing Processes
- MET 401 Quality Assurance
The laboratory equipment is also available for students as needed for projects or other class activities.
The laboratory has a variety of measurement equipment, including:
- various gauges and other equipment for hand measurement
- four CNC coordinate measuring machines (two contact and two vision)
- optical comparator with digital readout
- eddy current machine
- ultrasound machine
- dye penetrate station
- magnetic particle machine
This equipment includes a Nikon combination tool that has both contact and laser measurement capability. This tool is part of a larger Nikon equipment entrustment to the department.
