Aeronautical Management Technology Internships

The aviation industry offers first-hand experience in the operation of major airlines and aviation-related companies and organizations. This includes involvement in the day-to-day tasks, as well as practical exploration of the structure and major processes of the organization.

Nearly all of the internships are unpaid; however, many of them offer flight benefits, access to flight simulators and enhanced employment opportunities in the future, not to mention invaluable industry experience.

Requirements

Interns are expected to register for ASU course credit and complete the syllabus requirements associated with the internship course. This includes completing a mid-semester and end-of-semester experience report.

Selection of Candidates

The Aeronautical Management Technology Program has a committee that screens applicants for internship positions. Some participating companies also interview and screen applicants. AMT will publicize additional information about flying and management internships as they become available.

Flight Operations Internships

Various internships within the following airlines for Professional Flight students:

• Mesa Air Group
• United Express
• US Airways Express
• America West Express
• Southwest Airlines
• America West Airlines

Management Internships

• America West Airlines
  America West Airlines offers internships in the Flight Operations Engineering Department. Experiences are available in proposed route development, staffing, cruise fuel analysis, performance manuals and other flight related special projects.

• Southwest Airlines
  Internships are available at the company’s Flight Safety Department. Experiences related to flight safety and flight operations are available at the Company Headquarters in Dallas. Internships have also been offered at the Phoenix District Office.

• Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport
  Management internships are offered during the summer. Positions are available in business and properties, environmental programs, facilities and services, land development, marketing, or planning and development.

• Mesa Air Group
  Various internships within the airline.

• Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport
  Various internships throughout the airport.

• PSM2, Inc.
  Various management internship opportunities available.

• Transportation Security Administration
  Internships available providing management, administrative and aviation security-related experiences.
