Applied Psychology Minors

A minor in applied psychology is available for students majoring in other areas but desiring additional knowledge of applied psychology concepts and their applications.

The minor consists of 22 semester hours with at least 12 semester hours being from upper-division courses. The following are required courses that must be completed with a grade of “C” (2.00) or higher:

  • PGS 101 Introduction to Psychology
  • PSY 230 Introduction to Statistics or equivalent statistics course
  • PSY 290 Research Methods
  • PSY 437 Human Factors or
    PSY 438 Human-Computer Interaction* or
    PSY 440 Industrial/Organizational Psychology*
  • Additional hours of upper-division PSY and/or PGS courses

A maximum of three semester hours from the following courses can be used to satisfy minor requirements:

  • PGS 339 Supervised Research
  • PGS 499 Individualized Instruction or
    PSY 499 Individualized Instruction
  • PSY 492 Honors Directed Study
